I have been telling just about everyone who will listen for 20 years that, if I could play guitar, I would want to play exactly like Clive Gregson. The former lead guitarist for British band Any Trouble, he later joined Richard and Linda Thompson for 3 tours and 3 albums. After the legendary (and incendiary) Shoot Out the Lights tour, he and backup singer Christine Collister forged out on their own as a duo for 5 wonderful albums. Sadly, like most good things, that also came to an end. In the last several years, he has been releasing solo albums, brimming with great songs, fantastic musicianship, and good humor. You see, Clive is much more than a guitar player. He writes and sings great original songs, as well as an occasional reinterpretation. He tours extensively in Europe, just finishing a solo tour and now out again with Any Trouble for a bunch of dates. Before the holidays, he returns to his US home in Houston, TX, where he writes, records and lives with his wife. What he hasn’t been doing much for the last few years is touring in the US and that kills me because Clive is one of the best of the best. Check him out and see if you don’t agree.

Here is his website
